Landis+Gyr (SIX: LAND) announced an agreement with the Town of Ipswich, MA to provide advanced metering technology for the city’s 7,500 electric and 5,000 water customers.
The project includes both residential and commercial electric meters and water modules operating on the Gridstream® Connect RF Mesh network platform. The Gridstream system provides the utility with interval metering data from both electric and water meters. This allows the town’s electric, light, and water departments to more efficiently manage energy delivery and billing, respond quickly to electric outages, and alert customers of irregularities, such as water leaks.
Ipswich Utilities will also be installing Landis+Gyr’s SmartData Connect customer engagement portal, which provides consumer access to electric and water usage and billing information, offers alerts and notifications, and supports energy management programs.
“We are familiar with many of the benefits of AMI and are looking forward to exploring additional features available with the Gridstream system to help maintain reliability, promote clean energy integration, and offer new customer programs in the future,” said Jon Blair, Electric Manager for the Ipswich Utilities Department.
Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream Connect platform enables utilities to add smart metering, distribution controls, smart lighting, load management and support for renewable energy and electric vehicles on a single network supported by integrated software systems.
